Jason Coker

From Charlotte, North Carolina, Jason graduated from Charlotte Country Day School in 2007. During his high school years, he also played for the On Deck O’s out of On Deck Baseball Skill Development Academy (BSDA). He was awarded a baseball scholarship to the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. A 4-year starter for North Carolina, Jason spent time at all four infield positions throughout his career. Jason graduated in 2011 with a conference championship and a Daktronics All-American accolade.

After university, Jason returned to On Deck BSDA as an instructor and coach before being offered the chance to play for the Ottawa Fat Cats of the Intercounty Baseball League in 2012. A successful season with Ottawa was followed by 2 more seasons in the IBL with the Barrie Baycats for the 2013 and 2014 seasons. During his time in Barrie, he was the head baseball instructor for Summer365, a multisport facility in the area. After winning the 2014 IBL Championship with Barrie, Jason left for Australia to play local club ball and coach for the Woden Rebels Baseball Club in Canberra, Australia.

In May 2015, Jason married his wife Tasha before returning back to the United States and eventually settling in Ottawa. A year removed from the game, Jason was able to find Dingerz Batting and Pitching Centre. Helping with a few hitting clinics, he felt the passion for playing again. After trying out and making the Ottawa Champions of the CanAm League, Jason was rewarded with another championship for the 2016 season with Ottawa.

Jason spent the 2017 baseball season as Program Director and instructor at a local facility and as a Head Coach for the Ottawa Chiefs Major Bantam A team.
