From Orleans, Ontario (Canada), Alex played for the Orleans Little League Red Sox. He went on to play for the Ottawa Knights before moving on to play for the Ottawa Nepean Canadians. Alex made Team Ontario in both the 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 seasons. He was rewarded with a Silver and Gold medal in the Baseball Canada Cup Championships, respectively during his time with Team Ontario. During the 2010-2011 season, Alex represented Canada in the Sunbelt Classic, a top tournament for sophomore and junior high schoolers played in the United States.
All his hard work paid off as Alex attended the University of Maine on a baseball scholarship as a pitcher. He won a college summer league championship in 2013 with the Amsterdam Mohawks of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League. Alex moved on to Cisco College in Texas before finishing his career at Tarleton State University. During his collegiate career, Alex was trained under, and studied the Driveline weighted ball program.
Alex has been involved with youth baseball in Ottawa as the Head Pitching Instructor at multiple baseball facilities as well as coaching youth teams within the city. He spent his 2017 as a coach for the Ottawa Chiefs Baseball Club and for the Capital City Reds U22 college summer team.
